Dr. Ashish Kumar completed his M.B.B.S from Government Medical College, Mysore and pursued his master’s degree DNB(Ophthalmology) from Sankara Eye Centre,Coimbatore.
He did a long term( 1 year) Fellowship in Medical Retina from Sankara Eye Centre, Coimbatore and a Uveitis Observership at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai.
He is a Fellow of International Council of Ophthalmology and member of American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is a life member of All India Ophthalmological Society, Karnataka Ophthalmic Society and Uveitis Society of India. He is also a lifetime member of Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract and Reftactive Surgeons.
Dr. Ashish Kumar worked at Sankara Eye Centre, Coimbatore as medical officer, junior registrar, senior registrar and then Consultant from 2005 to 2010. In this period, he did more than 8000 cataract surgeries, 350 glaucoma surgeries, lid surgeries and pterygium surgeries. He also served at Sankara Rural Eye Hospital, Krishnan Koil for 6 months.
He was co in-charge of a new Vasan Eye Care Hospital, Tirupur where he set up the retina clinic with retinal lasers and ran the centre from October 2010 to March 2012.
He then joined Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore as Consultant-Cataract, Medical Retina and Uveitis from April 2012 till January 2014.
He continued his clinical work in his specialties of cataract surgery, retinal disease and inflammatory eye disease in two centres of Narayana Nethralaya. He was also involved in clinical research and was in-charge of a multi-centre clinical study.
He was also a Member of the Research Committee at Narayana Nethralaya. He is the founder and Managing Director of Akshara Eye Hospital, Bangalore.
Dr. P Rohitha Nayak did her M.B.B.S from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore and pursued her post-graduation in Ophthalmology-D.O.M.S from Government Medical College, Mysore.
She was awarded the Gold Medal for best outgoing D.O.M.S student in the state of Karnataka from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. She did her post-graduation master’s in Ophthalmology-DNB(Ophthalmology) from Sankara Eye Centre, Coimbatore and went on to do her Fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus there.
She is a member of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. She is a lifetime member of All India Ophthalmological Society, Karnataka Ophthalmic Society and Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
Dr. Rohitha Nayak joined Sankara Eye Centre, Coimbatore as medical officer and fellow in anterior segment surgery in 2004. She then joined DNB Ophthalmology in 2005.
She was in-charge of the Sankara Rural Eye Hospital, Krishnan Koil in 2005 and helped the poor in the surrounding villages with her expert and humane approach. She then went back to Sankara Eye Centre, Coimbatore from 2005 to 2008, where she performed more than 10000 cataract surgeries , 300 glaucoma surgeries, lid surgeries, cataract surgeries in very young children and squint surgeries. She joined Lotus Eye Care Hospital, Coimbatore as Consultant- Cataract and Paediatric Ophthalmology in 2008 and served as visiting Consultant to a new branch of the same hospital till 2010.
In 2010, she was co in-charge of a new Vasan Eye Care Hospital, Tirupur where she set up the Pediatric Ophthalmolgy Clinic and ran the centre from October 2010 to March 2012.
She then joined Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore as Consultant-Cataract, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Squint from April 2012 till January 2014.
She continued her clinical work in her specialties of cataract surgery, Pediatric and squint surgery in two centres of Narayana Nethralaya.
Dr. Raghuraj Hegde completed his MBBS from JSS Medical College, Mysore. He pursued his MS in Ophthalmology from the premier Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Kolkata which is the oldest Eye Hospital in South-East Asia.
He has done Clinical Observership in the Ophthalmic Plastics Department of LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.
He is a member of American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). He is also a lifetime member of Asia-Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic& Reconstructive Surgeons (APSOPRS). He is a life member of All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), Karnataka Ophthalmic Society (KOS) and Oculoplastic Association of India (OPAI).
He worked as a Resident at Regional Institute of Ophthalmology,Kolkata. After obtaining his MS in Ophthalmology he has worked at Vijaya Nethralaya, LV Prasad Eye Institute and Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore. He went on to pursue a Clinical Fellowship in Orbit, Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery and Ocular Oncology from National University Hospital, Singapore gaining surgical training and expertise in advanced Oculoplastic Surgery and Ocular Oncology. He is involved in clinical research and has presented many scientific papers at national and international conferences. His special interests are Thyroid Eye Disease, Facial Reconstruction and Ocular Oncology.
